2D Portfolio-Kanji Of Emotion

Kanji Of Emotions

Painting,Collage

Date

August 2020-November 2022

In my fascination with human anatomy, and the psychological impact of emotions I try to build upon each of these art pieces by incorporating various elements that make them more personal for the overall goal of this portfolio. By wanting to express the emotion of how I feel within the moment of the piece guided by my current mental state. The emotion that I feel in the moment that I pour out onto each of the various pieces produces something with personal aspects of myself through each of these various pieces to have a more meaningful attachment.
In these pieces, I want to reinvent and innovate on the emotion of how I feel in these "moments" around the subjects of my art pieces. In that, I Incorporate vibrant colors and muted colors to further exaggerate the implicated feelings that I felt in the moment when creating each of the individual pieces. In each piece, I try to give a sense of distinctiveness and individuality, whether that be through the specific paper I collage, patterns, new experimentation, or the specific kanji that I assign to these pieces. I’m looking to not just create an "art piece", but use processes, and experimentation that help accentuate the emotion that the piece may provide from the innate response it implies when viewed. For example in my piece “Dance Of Color” I instead of collaging to make up a majority of the subject I only collaged specific areas such as the teeth, and eyes, then used a water sprayer on the paint to create a drip-like technique, and a mix of colors differentiated from the others pieces. And as the name says, along with it the kanji of “dance” this piece's implication is that it is meant to invoke a multitude of emotions when we are overcome by the anxiety that presents itself throughout our life. And for that my anxiety is the belief that I can’t just do "my best”, but overachieve to obtain the full potential to ignore the limit of what I can do.
In my attempt this art is meant to be pieces of the individuality that makes me, providing the emotions for what I may struggle with through my life laying bare the elements of myself.
